Finalists to Be Recognized During Annual Small Business Awards Program

SEPTEMBER 9, 2020 (LANHAM, MD)— The Bizzell Group (Bizzell), one of the fastest growing small businesses in America, has been named a finalist in the 2020 U.S. Chamber of Commerce Dream Big Awards. The Awards, presented by Chase for Business with support from MetLife, celebrate the achievements of small businesses honors their contributions to America’s economic growth.

“Over the last several months, small business owners have faced challenge after challenge. Yet, despite these challenges small business owners never stop innovating, pivoting, taking risks, working hard, and dreaming big,” said Tom Sullivan, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Small Business Policy. “Small businesses are a critical and vibrant sector of the U.S. economy. The U.S. Chamber is proud to celebrate the very best in American small business through our Dream Big Awards.”

The Dream Big Awards program includes Business Achievement Awards to recognize excellence in eight categories and reflect the leading businesses in each of the following areas: community support and leadership, emerging, green/sustainable, minority-owned, veteran-owned, woman-owned, young entrepreneur, and small business of the year. This year’s finalists were selected from a record of over 700 applicants.

The Small Business of the Year Award recognizes the success of one small business and honors its contributions to the growth and diversity of the American economy. This award recognizes a small business that exemplifies the spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship, and individual initiative. Finalists for this award exemplify success and leadership in each of the following areas: business growth and performance, business strategies and goals, community engagement, customer and employee relation practices, and innovative business strategies/practices.

Dr. Anton Bizzell Selected as Small Business Person of the Year for Maryland by U.S. Small Business Administration

DR. ANTON BIZZELL SELECTED AS SMALL BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR FOR MARYLAND BY U.S. SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

March 11, 2020 (Washington, DC) – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that Anton C. Bizzell, M.D., President and CEO of The Bizzell Group (Bizzell), has been selected as Maryland’s Small Business Person of the Year for 2020. The recognition comes ahead of National Small Business Week, where SBA acknowledges over 50 exceptional individuals from across the United States, Puerto Rico and Guam who have not only realized their dreams of entrepreneurship but have also been tremendous job creators, helping to expand our economy.

“It is an honor to represent Maryland and be recognized with my peers across the nation,” said Dr. Bizzell. “I have leveraged the tools and resources from the SBA, coupled with the strength of my outstanding team to deliver impactful services and solutions to our clients and we look forward to harnessing this momentum as we continue to expand our global footprint.”

Since 2010, the Prince George’s County based, Bizzell has created hundreds of jobs locally and nationally, generated record revenue, and been ranked by Inc. Magazine and The Washington Business Journal as one of the fastest growing small businesses in the U.S. Bizzell has been at forefront of public health issues, including the opioid epidemic, the Ebola crisis, and the recent COVID-19 outbreak.

February 27, 2020 (Lanham, MD)—Inc. magazine announced that The Bizzell Group (Bizzell) is No. 128 on its inaugural Inc. 5000 Series: D.C. Metro list for achieving a 95% increase in revenue growth in 2018. The list is the most prestigious ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware. Born of the annual Inc. 5000 franchise, this regional list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the D.C. Metro economy’s most dynamic segment—its independent small businesses.

Methodology

The 2020 Inc. 5000 Regional Series is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2016 and 2018. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2016. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2018. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2016 is $100,000; the minimum for 2018 is $1 million. October 25, 2019 (Lanham, MD) – The Bizzell Group (Bizzell) ranks at number 50 on the 75 Fastest Growing Companies of 2019 by the Washington Business Journal (WBJ). For the second consecutive year, Bizzell contested for a top spot among over 2,000 Washington, D.C.-based private companies.

 

On October 24, Bizzell President & CEO, Dr. Anton C. Bizzell, attended the award ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner, where the firm was recognized for its rapid growth and a positive trajectory for success. “The Journal’s continued recognition of our commitment to healthcare, national security, and public service further accredits our expertise. The dedication of our employees and trust of our clients drives our constant growth,” says Dr. Bizzell. “It’s an honor to be ranked amongst companies who I highly regard as experts and leaders in their respective fields”.
